Mystery Mansion – Part II

The conclusion is continued from Mystery Mansion – Part I

Mystery MansionJohn’s Revelation Room was set up like an island. On the far wall was a mural of a roaring sea surrounded by mountains and clouds above that were split open. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled. To the right of the mural stood seven lampstands. As we gazed at the scene before us, we felt the floor begin to quiver and shake. We grabbed each other’s arms and were about to flee in terror, but a voice sounded, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.”

We felt an immense love, a mighty power, and a magnificent sense of wonder all at the same time, so we lingered a bit longer. On the opposite wall from the lampstands stood an open door into heaven that looked like one might  picture heaven to be like. Of course, it was part of the mural or else we surely would have gone in.

Behind us stood a gold-covered table – but more like an altar – with a scroll lying on one end. We ventured closer. We counted seven seals on the scroll.

Next to the scroll, lined up like soldiers in formation stood seven trumpets. Just past the trumpets sat seven bowls. Above the altar-table hung a banner which read, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold! I am alive forevermore.  Surely, I am coming quickly.”

The other rooms in the Mystery Mansion were intriguing, but this room was overwhelming and left us speechless and in absolute awe for we have never experienced anything like it. We quietly exited John’s Revelation Room each in her own wonderment.

Once we caught our breath, Hope mumbled, “My questions seem a little trivial after seeing the Revelation Room.”

“Like yeah, no kidding!” Faith said.  “Mine too,” Grace and I said in unison.

We stood there a moment pondering the enormity of it all. Finally, I spoke up, “Should we go to the third floor?”

“Okay,” Grace said, “But I think we will be disappointed compared to the Revelation Room.”

We climbed the curved stairway and stopped abruptly at the top. The entire third level was one room that overshadowed the lower two levels like an enclosed balcony in a theater. Everything, including the floor we stood on, was pure gold. We could hear the sound of running water like that of a river, and yet, we saw nothing.

We looked expectantly at one another as though someone should venture us forward to the door before us that stood amidst twelve pillars. Finally, Grace motioned us forward to the door. We looked up at the massive door. There was no way in because it could only be opened from the inside. Alongside the door hung a long scroll. On it were the words, “God, in His sovereignty, has chosen not to reveal the  answers to the mysteries of God to mankind while he was still on earth, but those who seek will find the entrance, and there, the mysteries of God will be revealed throughout eternity. Go, tell your people to prepare themselves for the time is near.”

The words of the scroll had etched themselves in our minds and on our hearts and re-focused our thinking from the mysteries of God in the distant past to the mysteries of God in the near future. We looked at each other and with renewed exuberance we ran hand in hand down the stairway to our car. We had places to go and people to see! We had a message to spread!

“Even so, Come Lord Jesus!” Grace, Hope, Faith, and Joy called out as they sped away!
