My Take Away

There’s been a lot of talk about death lately with the covid-19 pandemic all over the world.  The whole earth seems to have shut down in chaos, confusion, and gloom.   Death is certainly an enemy to all mankind.

But, the death of one Man was hardly even mentioned this year, except in Christian circles.  Jesus’ death trampled death with death.  His death served a purpose for mankind from every nation in every generation.  He defeated Satan;  He was victorious over death;  and He overcame the world.  By His death,  He redeemed mankind and offers eternal life to all who believe in Him.

His resurrection is proof that His death achieved the purpose for which God intended when He gave His only begotten Son to be the Savior of the world.

We sang this song via live stream at church this morning.  The lyrics tell the story of what one Man’s death means to those who believe.
Link to hear “There Ain’t No Grave”  (2:04:10)  https://bethlehem.church/live-content/

1. Shame is a prison as cruel as a grave
Shame is a robber and he’s come to take my name.
Love is my redeemer lifting me up from the ground
Love is the power where my freedom song is found
(Chorus )
2. Fear is a liar with a smooth and velvet tongue
Fear is a tyrant he’s always telling me to run.
Love is resurrection and love is a trumpet sound
Love is my weapon I’m gonna take my giants down
(Chorus )
3. There was a battle, a war between death and life
There on a tree the Lamb of God was crucified.
He went on down to the grave, He took back every key
He rose up as a Lion, now He’s setting all the captives free
(Chorus)
He’s alive, alive, alive, hallelujah, alive
Praise and glory to the Lamb
Alive, alive, hallelujah, alive forever, amen

I’m alive, alive, alive, hallelujah, alive
Praise and glory to the Lamb
Alive, alive, hallelujah, alive forever, amen
(Bridge)
Worthy is the Lamb, Worthy of our praise”
Worthy is the One who has overcome the grave
Let the people dance, let the people sing
Worthy is the mighty King
(Chorus )
There ain’t no grave gonna hold my body down
There ain’t no grave gonna hold my body down
When I hear that trumpet sound, I’m gonna rise up out of the ground
There ain’t no grave gonna hold my body down

There are a thousand ways to die; but only one way to live.  Death can dominate our bodies, but it cannot destroy our minds.  The Christian’s battle cry of faith – Christ is risen.  The Christian’s battle cry of hope – Christ is risen.  The Christian’s battle cry of love – Christ is risen.  (Pastor Jason Meyer)

And that is my take away from the Easter account of one Man’s death, burial, and resurrection that has been told for 2000 years.  Jesus is His name.
