I Could Only Imagine

I knelt in my flower garden, a.k.a. weed patch, during our last global warming.  I wondered what it may have been like at the beginning of creation.  I pulled my thoughts from among the weeds and wrote what I could only imagine.

sunrise I could only imagineThe sun rises with magnificence that takes my breath away.  It sets with a sigh of contentment at the end of the day.  It does not blush for its glorious beauty nor does it hide in embarrassment behind the clouds.  The sun gives of its own radiance.

moon I could only imagineThe moon quietly and patiently reflects the beauty of another and does not complain to play a minor role in the cosmos.  It gladly accepts its responsibility to tug at the restless seas of earth and to glow to the delight of lovers untold.

stars I could only imagineThe stars shine unblemished against an ebony sky, but they do not flee when the sky is blue nor do they grow dim when the sky is gray.  The stars travel together in circuits blue-printed by the Source of light.  In unison, they laugh with glee at their freedom to sparkle and to be gazed upon for direction for humanity.

trees in the wind I could ony imagineThe wind escapes from any attempt to be captured.  It does not need to be admired as the sun, the moon, or the stars seem to be. The wind offers it strength for good and its fury when called to do so.  It carries the breath of God to and fro over the face of the earth, and indeed is the breath of its Maker.

rain I could only imagineThe rain rushes down on rock and river, field and plain.  Sometimes it splashes with giddiness into puddles as it offers refreshment to thirsting recipients.  It may rise in tempestuous surges like a demon seeking rest.  The rain knows it purpose and never over-steps its bounds.

flowers I could only imagineFlowers turn their happy faces skyward during the day and bow their heads in the evening.  Their only duty is to adorn their surroundings with beauty, offer their fragrance to passersby,  and to make sweet nectar for honey bees.

fish I could only imagineThe seas and all they contain gather together in their appointed places.  They gladly display their hues of aqua, green or blue. They coax adventurers to come explore their depth or their breadth.

Who can know the  mind of God?  Have you been a counselor to Him?  Were you there when He stretched out the heavens and formed the earth?  From the majestic Rocky Mountains to the endless expanse of sky to the delicate lilies of the valley, God is their designer.  I could only imagine His delight.

I look at my flower garden, and I could only imagine what the Garden of Eden must have looked like.  Everyone everywhere on earth, take notice of what God created for a far greater complexity than our own simple wonderment of it all.
