Four Major Events Occur within Three Days

Four major events occur within three days of each other in 2020.  The first three already occurred on October 31st – Halloween, Blue Moon on Halloween, and Daylight Saving Time.

Halloween was an attention-getter in itself this year due to the pandemic.  Do we put treats in a bag on the front steps?  Should we shut off the lights early?   Will kids even be able to go out?  The first trick or treaters were poor children in medieval Europe who would go door-to-door begging for food and money during the Celtic holiday Samhain.  It was believed the souls of the dead roamed the earth on October 31st.  The children would receive their reward in exchange for prayers for the souls of the dead.

Kids going door-to-door for treats found its way to the US in the 19th century ~

Halloween has a long sordid history planted in the soil of evil and witchcaft.  The children’s prayers were thought to fend off ghosts.  In the 19th century, the Catholic Church rechristened the day “All Hallow’s Eve” or “All Soul’s Day.”  Neighbors would hand out sweet pastries called “soul cakes” that were stamped with a cross symbolizing a soul being saved from Purgatory.  That’s why ghost and goblin costumes became a favorite with the early trick or treaters.  (History Channel)

2020 – a most unusual year ~  Four major events occur within three days of each other

What makes a blue moon on Halloween so rare?  According to astromer/educator, Jeffrey Hunt, a blue moon occurs when it’s the second full moon of the same month which in this year followed the harvest moon of October 1-3.  To make this year’s blue moon even more spectacular is that the bright, Halloween’s full moon is visible to the entire world, rather than just parts of it. This has not occurred since WWII in 1944.  Hunt writes about this event on his website When the Curves Line Up,

God changes the times and the seasons ~

The third event was that Daylight Saving Time was deleted October 31st never to be seen until next spring.  In 1966, then President Lyndon Johnson signed the Uniform Time Act into law allowing states and territories to opt out of daylight saving time.  Arizona and Hawaii were two such states.  Daylight saving time does not make our days one minute longer.  God designed the amount of daylight the world would receive when He placed the sun, the moon, and the earth exactly where He did.  Man can change the clocks, but he cannot make the day one minute longer or one second shorter.  That is ordained by God.  I’m good with that.

The 4th event still to occur ~

Election Day is tomorrow!  It is said this election is historic, unprecedented and critical in every way for America.  I saw a banner on the podium of one candidate that read: The Battle for the Soul of America.

God Removes Kings and Sets up Kings ~

One political party wants to destroy the heart of America; the other political party wants to restore America to one great nation under God.  One party thinks it is okay to kill babies; the other party believes in sanctity of life; one party upholds that a democracy should be replaced with socialism while the other party fights for freedom  to be a nation of the people and for the people.  Vote wisely!
