When he did, kapow! Little Miss Mischief-maker snapped the plate flat, and the butter square shot upward with an audible twap! as it stuck to the ceiling. Everyone, except our teacher, was privy to the naughty happenings in the classroom. Kids quickly passed butter-loaded plates around each time he turned away from us. As each butter pat shot to the ceiling, the room erupted with snorts and laughter.

The Gospel of Judas

Just prior to His betrayal, Jesus prayed to the Father, “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your Name. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled (John 17:12).
Son of perdition highlights Judas’ destined path of downfall and betrayal of Jesus, which ultimately led to his condemnation.

Names, Labels, and Titles

Here’s a Biblical example of a label that carries a negative degrading tone. John 1:47 records the event when Philip found Nathanael and told him they had found the One whom the prophets had written about – Jesus of Nazareth! Nathanael’s flat response was, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”
