We parked our van and boarded the ark walking up a long, gradual ramp much like the animals boarded two by two in Noah Ark. We were in the ark about ten minutes when we heard a loud, deep boom of a heavy door closing. I imagined it sounded like what Noah and his household must have heard when God Himself closed the door after all were boarded.

God’s Rest
The Israelites’ journey from slavery in Egypt to the freedom in the Promised Land of Canaan is used as a metaphor for the Christian journey from sin to salvation. My mountaintop experience was quiet, personal, whereas Israel’s journey involved the entire nation in a stunning display of His power. In His extravagant and inexhaustible resources, God tailers what He knows is needed for each specific task at hand – whether it is physical deliverance from slavery or spiritual deliverance from sin.
