Searching and Searching! Conclusion

Continued from June 12 post –

Grace cleared her throat and read, “Jesus answered her, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give Him will never thirst.  Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'”

“What does that mean?” Merci asked.

Grace thought for a bit.  “I think it means that we’re going to be thirsty again.”

“Yeah, that’s  what I thought,” Merci said, pouring another glass of water and offering Grace a refill.  Grace shook her head.  “I think there’s a deeper meaning here – a spiritual meaning.” Merci’s eyebrows raised up like golden arches.

“I’m certain that what Jesus meant is that He is the One who gives eternal life,” Grace continued.  “We’ll never be thirsty spiritually.”  While searching through a few more pages to another underlined section, she read, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.”

“That’s it!” Merci exclaimed.  “If we believe in Jesus Christ, we have eternal life!”

Grace nodded with a huge smile.  “What we’ve been searching for is within us – in our hearts!”

“Yeah, I get it.  I get it!” Merci exclaimed.  They grabbed each other by their hands and twirled around in celebration.

Suddenly, they found themselves beside calm waters in a field lush with green grass. “What else does it say?” Merci asked.

Grace read, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me  lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside  quiet waters.  He restores my soul…”
