The Gate

The gatekeeper said, “You have come to my gate, but I do not have a key to open it.  Have you not heard that going to church, even if you attended regularly, is not enough?” 
And with those words ringing in his ears, the old man became sorrowful as he retreated from what he thought would be the right gate to heaven.

Road Trip or Vacation Spot?

Is there a wilderness in your journey? Be patient – there’s an end to it. Be aware, as well, to the oasis, for that too has an end. Like the rolling in and out of ocean waves, there is an ebb and flow to life on earth. There is purpose for each one’s journey, but the destination is the ultimate goal where time as we know it ceases.

God’s Rest

The Israelites’ journey from slavery in Egypt to the freedom in the Promised Land of Canaan is used as a metaphor for the Christian journey from sin to salvation. The author of Hebrews connects the spiritual rest to faith in Jesus Christ meaning that entering God’s rest is about trusting in Jesus and living in obedience to Him while on earth.
