Are we obsessed with time because of all the questions humans ask? “What time is it?” “Do you have time to…?” Wouldn’t it be great if we could do time travel?” “How can I save time?” That would be like somebody saying to a banker, “I would like to deposit 1000 units of time in my savings account.” “If I had the time and money, I would…” But, wait, someone already said, “Time is money.” So what would you do?
I am a time-oriented person constrained by time. God is time-oriented, but He is not constrained by time. He owns time! It is a tool to Him to accomplish His purpose in a manner we can grasp. Time governs my activities, but God governs all things in His perfect time. Because I am so time-oriented, I have decided that rather than spending time with God, I will spend ‘presence’ with God. That way I am not hindered by the clock.
We are celebrating a new day, a new week, a new month, a new year AND a new decade! I’ve seen over 70 decades come and go with tons of memories, celebrations, experiences, tragedies, and whatever else makes up this thing called life. And time seems to rush faster with each year.
Each new year brings us closer to the point when there will be no more measure of time. It’s called eternity – everlasting – without end. And everyone one earth will come to the end of his or her time. Do you know where you will spend eternity? Something very serious to consider!
