Road Trip or Vacation Spot?

road tripAre you a road-trip type individual or a vacation-spot person? Here’s how you can tell: would you rather meander on backroads unknown to GPS in hopes of seeing breathtaking beauty, OR would you rather get from point A to point B, unpack, and then say, “Let the vacation begin!”

vacation spotI’m a vacation-spot person but I wish I had more “road-trip adventure” in me. I’m also a Martha woman but one who would like more Mary characteristics to be mine. What type of traveler are you?

Road-trip people tend to be more carefree visiting multiple places rather than a traveler’s one destination. “We’ll get to our destination, wherever it is, whenever we get there.” On the other hand, vacation-spot minded persons prefer to arrive at their planned place in a timely manner. “This is the perfect spot to spend our time!”

Do you realize you can be both or you can be neither? There are certain things we can control and some things we are not meant to manage such as, we cannot dictate whether our personalities influence our travels to take us on a casual road trip or hurries us to our vacation spot. It’s who we are. Created by God. Diversified individuals in the unity of mankind. Individually loved and personally known by name by the Creator of the cosmos. Created in His image.

However, every man, woman, and child is on, has been, or will be on a journey which is neither a road trip nor a vacation spot. This is the journey of life. Every one of us is on a path and each walkway is unique to each individual. That’s why we are called sojourners on earth. Many people may undergo similar experiences, but not with the exact details or impact.

Is there a wilderness in your journey? Be patient – there’s an end to it. Be aware, as well, to the oasis, for that too has an end. Like the rolling in and out of ocean waves, there is an ebb and flow to life on earth. There is purpose for each one’s journey, but the destination is the ultimate goal where time as we know it ceases.

Suddenly, as believers, we find ourselves in a spiritual realm of stunning beauty and exquisite music called heaven where angels and saints alike praise and worship our Creator. Believers are in awe of our heavenly Father and our Savior. Shouts of joy ripple throughout the universe! Forever.

It is staggering to think of how the magnitude of Jesus’ one deed on the cross could impact every human being from beginning of time to end of time. Man can believe and receive or reject and be lost. All mankind must respond to God’s call to eternity in heaven. He cannot be neutral since neutrality is the same as rejection.

Man’s response, whatever it may be, does not negate God’s bidding to reconciliation. Man had nothing to do with God’s redemption plan except to sin that necessitated the need for it. God’s plan to send Jesus to shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins was set in motion before sin was even commited.

My goal here is to relay God’s invitation to salvation. So whether you are a road-tripper or a vacation-spotter on earth, listen to God’s call and be in serious thought of where your ultimate destination in eternity will be. A wise choice is to believe and receive.
