“Necessity is the mother of invention” so says ancient Greek philosopher Plato. When there is need or a problem, necessity becomes the driving force for creative efforts to solve the problem.
We have witnessed that with the coronavirus that is sweeping the world. The problem is that we have to stop the deadly virus as it marches across the globe. The “invention” to meet this dire situation becomes the way and means to accomplish this huge task. Testing kits become crucial. Hand soap and hand sanitizer are key. Proper fitting respirators are critical. Social distancing is put into action. Businesses, schools, and churches are closed. And shelter in place is recommended and may become mandatory as well.
Life has changed throughout the earth.
This is unprecedented. It is real. It causes anxiety and apprehension. It triggers depression. It is a pandemic.
But, there is something even more disastrous. More deadly. And affects absolutely every human being on earth since time began. It is called SIN. Sin has marched throughout the whole world for generations since time began. It is more deadly than all of the pandemic, epidemic diseases and viruses in the history of the world. If left untreated, sin will destroy its host forever.
The problem was that man was trapped and doomed to die if a solution was not found. The necessity to save mankind was the driving force behind God’s solution. God knew the solution before time began. He didn’t wait until the problem got out of hand. He had the solution before the problem even arose.
God did not eradicate sin like some diseases can be wiped out. Yet. But He had a plan. He had a solution. He put His plan into action about 2000 years ago. He would send His Son to die for the sins of the world. Jesus would take our place on the cross and would die to pay the penalty for our sins since the wages of sin is death.
God revealed sin’s anecdote in and through His Son, Jesus. But most of mankind refused to listen, and would pay the fatal consequences of rejecting God’s one and only solution to all of mankind’s life-threatening dilemma. But the good news is that there is a time coming when all of sin will be totally and completely wiped out, and life on earth as we know it, will change in every sense of the word. There will be peace instead of anxiety and fear; joy rather than depression; assurance and not fear; life rather than death, wellness replaces pain and sickness. God’s solution to eradicate sin and give life forever is offered to all who believe in the matchless and mighty name of Jesus.
