Bio: I was born at the end of WWII in Minneapolis, MN., but I was raised in St. Paul. My first job, at age 15, was working as a salesgirl for my dad at his bakery. Eventually, I worked as a secretary-receptionist at Brown & Bigelow and then at 3M where I met my husband.
Education: I graduated from Sibley High School where I discovered my passion for writing. I received my AA Degree in speech/communications from Lakewood Community College.
Writing: I have written wildlife magazine articles for Water, Woods, and Wildlife Magazine; children’s short stories, devotionals, poetry, a monthly humorous/cooking column called “Rita Raps it Up” for a local newspaper, blogs (see Blog Page) and fourteen books (see Book Page).
Faith: I grew up in a good, moral home, and attended a parochial grade school. I became a Christian through the personal witness of life-long friend when I was 30. From that time on, my writing career took a more intentional direction as I expanded into Christian writing. I am a small group leader with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).
Family: My husband, Burt, and I live in Lexington, MN. We have three married daughters and seventeen grandchildren: eleven natural, four step, and two adopted, and one greatgrandson.
Cancer: At age 60, I was diagnosed with two different cancers and spent the next three years on the battlefield. It was here that I discovered my faith in the calm seasons of life needed a major strengthening if it was to sustain me on the battlefield. I have been out of the cancer arena for 14 years.
